Dreadful, truly dreadful best describes Jenny Lawson’s (aka “The Bloggess”) “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir,” which I recently schlepped through in disgust, hoping to discover how this awful book inexplicably landed on the New York Times bestseller list.
Publishers Weekly Review was brave enough to point out that “Lawson’s puerile sniggering and potty mouth gets old fast,” to which I’ll add this: if all the expletives were deleted from this odious book it’d be the size of a sump-pump manual.
Lawson’s “strange vignettes” and “rants about bodily functions and dead animals spiced with profanity,” is further proof of society’s descent into a morass of mediocrity. The Facebook body snatchers are taking over!
And to Putnam and Son’s—shame on you for publishing this tripe!
