All hail Phyllis Diller, comedienne extraordinaire, zany housewife, celebrated author (“Like a Lampshade in a Whorehouse”), trailblazer, fashion statement and what Time Magazine called “the poor man’s Auntie Mame,” has gone to the big shopping cart in the sky. She was 95.
Some of my favorite Phyllis Diller quotes:
“Never go to bed mad. Stay up and fight.”
“I’ve buried a lot of ironing in the backyard.”
“I’m at an age when my back goes out more than I do.”
“Best way to get rid of kitchen odors: Eat out.”
