For those lucky enough to receive Canadian channels there’s a treat in store on CBC’s hit TV show Republic of Doyle Wed., Jan. 11 when Oscar-winner Russell Crowe guest stars. This comedy-drama set in St. John’s, Newfoundland, focuses on the loves and misadventures of a private investigator played by the handsome actor Allan Hawco. Don’t know how they snagged Crowe but from the promos it looks like an episode worthy of attention.
By the way, I love Canadian shows because the characters are so real. No slick dudes and overly made-up beauty queens. The men have unlandscaped whiskers and oddly shaped heads and mismatched eyes. The women are earthy and comfortable with themselves despite the absence of a hairdresser or any attempt at haute couture. Real folks. How refreshing.
