Wow-what a ride it’s been this week: the Charlie Sheen meltdown (I sincerely hope the guy gets professional help), basking in the splendor and glory of the Oscar fashions, mourning the passing of actress Jane Russell (what a great gal), and monitoring the insanity in the Middle East.
Sandra Bullock’s stunning Vera Wang creation was one of the highlights of the Oscars telecast. Sandy looked radiant in red but seemed a little depressed. Who wouldn’t be after Le Divorce?
Speaking of wowing them in red…Jane Russell said her favorite movie was the 1953 hit she co-starred in with Marilyn Monroe-“Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.” If you’ve never heard of Miss Russell “Google” her to see a beautiful Reubenesque movie star of the old school. I highly recommend renting the movie—it’s great fun.

On other more pleasant subjects:
I’ve been watching Cake Boss ever since my sister recommended it, knowing I’d love the Valastro family, the shouting Italian bakers of Hoboken, New Jersey (birthplace of Frank Sinatra). Now, I’m hooked on Buddy’s new show Kitchen Boss. Paying no heed to proper grammar and just being his usual teddy bear-self, Buddy’s a blast to watch and his simple, unpretentious recipes are a joy to make. Both shows air on TLC: http://tlc.discovery.com/tv/kitchen-boss.
